    William Brennan Castlekelly, Gowran, Co Kilkenny, used to carry twenty sacks of mail on his sholders in olden days when traffic was scarce he used to move farm implements from fields to fields and never used cars.
    William Murphy Clara was a champion runner of Leinster for a hundred yards.
    William Stephenson of Graig was a long distant runner.
