  1. Folk Cures or Charms (in the Townland of Clara)
    Deafness is cured by a certain oil obtained from the hedgehog in the following manner. The animal is killed and cut into small peices. These are cooked without water for a long time to extract the juice. This juice is left to cool. It is put into the ear over night and sometimes one dose gives ease. Several doses will eventually it is said restore the hearing.
    Warts are cured by rubbing on them the juices obtained from the Dandelion plant.
