  1. In this district the unlucky month for marriages is the month of May, and the 13th of any month is the unlucky day. it is customary for people to get married during Shrove. It is a custom up to the present day to make matches and money is given as dowry. Generally when the party comes home it is a custom for the young to dress up as "straw boys". Some dress as girls and put flour bags on their heads and wear long garment down to their feet. They go to the house of the newly married couple and dance all night.
