  1. An old woman who lived in Tinnehinch many years ago earned her living by nursing. She nursed sick people in the town and also in the surrounding country districts. The pursuit of her onerous duties often necessitated her being out late at night, and in those days there were no motors or buses. Frequently she had to make the journey to the sick person's house on foot. As a consequence of the long trudge and the monotonous nature of her work, it is a small wonder that the poor creature was often very fatigued,
