    Local Cures
    A cure for a whooping cough is give a ferret plenty of milk to drink and when it has about half of the milk drank put it away from the milk, and drink it yourself and it will cure a whooping cough.
    A cure for measles is go out the road and ask the first man you see on a white horse, what's a cure for measles, and whatever he says will cure it.
    A cure for warts is, go down to Mr. Dunne from Maudlin Street Kilkenny and tell him you have a wart and he will bury two straws in the form of a cross and while the straws are withering the wart will be getting all right.
    Eat raw celery and it will cure rheumatism.
    Vinegar on brown paper will cure a headache.
    Grind sugar together and mix it with soap and put it on a boil and it will cure the boil.
    Rub washing soda on chilblains and it will cure them.
    Put cold black tea on sore eyes and it will cure them.
