    The forest rang with the cries of the wild hunts men and the barking of the hounds.
    The wild animals fled terrified through the brushwood. A proud stag sped swift as an arrow among the trees followed by a young hunts man on a fiery horse. The rider was Norbert whom the Emperor favoured above all his courtiers on account of his fine spirit and wit.
    On he flew after the stag but lost sight of the animal through the thicket. This made him furious
