  1. Saint Kieran's College is situated in the Callan Road and it was built in the year 1836. It is an extensive building and it is surrounded by high walls.
    Its foundation stone was laid by Rev. N. Shearman P.P. St Patricks when the Bishop of Ossory was absent. The students were transferred from a College in Birchfield to Saint Kieran's College which was more convenient to the students. The first president was Bishop Kinchella who was also founder of the College.
    The building has been enlarged since and a new wing has been built on. Also new improvment's have been made. Bishop Collier is now
