  1. Marble Mills
    For a very long period marble working was about the only extensive industry in Kilkenny. These mills were established by William Colles. They are situated on the left bank of the river Nore.
    Many monuments cut from this marble and bearing inscriptions look as fresh today as if they had been done only last year. The work done at the mills include chimneypieces, fenders, tiles and Memorial Tablets, and many can be seen in the churches of Kilkenny. For monumental and other purposes the
