  1. Old Schools
    There was a hedge school in Ballykeefe - some say it was in Richard Wallace's boreen, others say it was near James Power's gate about one hundred yards further on. It is believed to be indoor.
    Mr Shearman from Ballykeefe Bog that taught there last about 130 years ago.
    It was the cleverest person in the district who was chosen to teach there. The principal reading book used was "Reading Made Easy".
