  1. It is not generally know that it was a man from Callan who killed Lord Kilwarden in thomas street Dublin the night of Emetts rising.
    Transcribed by a member of our volunteer transcription project.
  2. George Stephensan who lived at Westcourt Callan was killed at Kilbride cross on the night of 2nd Feb. 1849, by a fall from his horse.
    He was retauring from a dinner at Garryricken house at which a toast was drank, wishing that confusion to Pope and papery. this was a popular toast with ascendency party in these days
