  1. In olden times about eighty years ago a man named Comerford from Kilnaspic had a wake in his house on a cold winter's night. He sent two men to a certain tree to cut a bough of it. The two men gave hours cutting the tree and it was tightning the tree was.
At last they looked up and saw something like a dog minding the tree on top. In the morning they went to the same tree and two cuts of a saw cut the bough.
