  1. This is a poem composed by Peter Brophy of Buckstown in remembrance of the Mission of 1937.

    You Roman Catholics through-out this Diocese,
    Pray lend your aid whilst these lines I write,
    On the Holy Fathers and pious Clergy.
    Our holy Bishop did of late invite,
    To preach the doctrine from its foundation,
    Like the great St. Patrick in the days of yore,
    And to do penance for our transgressions and promise them to sin no more.

    Their hearts rejoicing from early morning,
    Till the late evening of that long day,
    To see us crowding round their tribunal, and before the Altar to kneel and pray
    The crowds each night was a glorious sight,
    As they, did the Church daily throng,
    With voice melodious like choirs of Angels,
    With Heavenly music and Sacred Song.

    Our Fathers, may God protect them,
    They are true sons of green Eire's shore,
    And in reture for their pious lectures,
    Their advice we'll follow for ever-more,
    The great St. Patrick once preached in Erin, from
