  1. Long ago the people had not the same kind of bread as we have now. They used eat the oaten bread. For flour they used bolt the wheat. The millers used bolt the wheat.
    They used querns for making quern meal out of the wheat. They had no bake pans at that time they used bake the bread in griddles and these griddles were left on a brand.
    In some places there are brands to be seen yet. The cakes were made very big and they used have to cut the cake in quarters
