  1. There is a fairy fort on Mr Thomas Sheffin's farm at the back of the village in the townland of Ballyhale. This fort is called the 'Raheen'. No other 'raw' is in view of it. A big tree is growing in the middle of the 'raw'. The tree is round and even. Some old people say the fairies clip it. There is no fence or wall around the tree, and no grass is growing around it. I have never heard of anyone exploring it. I don't think the Danes are connected with it. Old people say fairies lived in it, others say it was the leprauchan's hut. Further up in that field there is a hallow where the fairies are said to dance.
