Some forty or fifty years ago there lived in the village of Ballyhale a family named Doyle who for some generations had carried on the nail making trade My father says that when he was a little boy the trade was nearly gone for the shops had then begun to stock the nails made in the factory. Still one of the brothers was often at work and my Daddy says he often watched them Charlie it was who did the work at the trade and James got odd jobs around & did the housekeeping. They lived where Jack OShea has his petrol & motor supplies now. The house was very small and it was at one side of the kitchen they worked. There was a hob there like the
