  1. One evening of late from Bandon I strayed
    To sweet Clonakilty I was making my way
    At Ballinascarthy some time I delayed
    And I wetted my whistle with "porter"
    I kindled my pipe, and I spat on my stick,
    And out the coach-road like a deer I did trip,
    Sure I cared for no bailiff, landlord or old Nick,
    But I sang like a lark in the mornin!
    I scarcely had travelled a mile of the road,
    When I heard a dispute in a farmer's abode,
    'Tween the son of a landlord, an ill-looking toad,
    And the wife of a bold tenant farmer,
    Said he "what the dickens has come over ye all,
    Not one penny rent can we get now at all,
    Ah! but after the Sessions ye'll pay for it all,
    Ye'll have the high-road for a farm.
    Your husband I've seen in town th' other night,
    He was drinkin' an' shoutin' all for Tenant Right,
    But after the Sessions we'll put him to flight,
    To follow his friends o'er the water."
    "Ye Gaffer!" the bowld tenant's wife she replied
    "You're worse than Churchill on the other side,
