  1. Ballincray is in the parish of Slievrue in the County of Kilkenny. We are told that Saint Patrick came to Ballincray. There were bad christians there at that time. They killed a hound and cooked it, and invited Saint Patrick to come and have dinner with them. They intended to deceive him, by giving him the cooked hound to eat and pretending it was a plate of beef. Saint Patrick, before sitting down to eat, took the plate of meat and blessed it. The hound immediately jumped up and ran out the door. And instead, a beautiful plate of beef came before him. He then prophesied that Ballincray would never be without a fool.
