  1. Scartnamoe is situated mid-way between Slieverue and Glenmore on the Ross road. This is how it got its name.
    One time there was a man scarting. Another man came driving cows. he drove in the cows in the field and was chatting with the other man He said to him "We will go in for a drink to the Inn" which was near. He left the billhook and his coat after him. When he came out the cows had the coat eaten and the bushes and the billhook was stolen. That is why they called it Scartnamoe.
