  1. In the year 1889 a very tragic boat accident occured in which two young men were drowned. Their names were William Forristal and Pat Connolly. One Sunday they were visiting their friends in Cheek Point. Their boat came into colision with another boat as they were going to get a tow from her. The news was soon discovered and the river was immediately searched, but to no avail. On the second day their bodies was discovered. When they were taken ashore they were a pitiful sight.
