  1. Years ago a man and woman discussed the merits and demerits of their dogs. The woman praised her dog for his great deeds at the seaside. She said she threw a piece of stick into the water and the dog followed it and brought it out.
    The man said his dog was a better one because he threw a shilling into the sea and the dog followed it and brought out threepence worth of fish and ninepence change.
