    Now time and years bring changes as to you I will explain
    When Pat Diffley undertook a job that often caused him pain.
    There being no maid about the house, home duties he must do
    And to comply with all these jobs I'll tell you not a few.
    II
    It was his whole intention some chickens there to stock
    But to his great amazement he got no hen to clock.
    He searched around through Tanseyfield and also Clooneybrennan
    But sorra one he ever got till he came to Mrs Gannon.
    III
    Says he they are two slack townlands and the hens must be on stricke
    As he rolled her in his old hit bag and placed her on the bike.
    He started back for Tanseyfield with neither coat nor vest
    And before the sun had left the sky he had he on the nest
