  1. Signs of the weather.
The old people have signs of the weather so they know when it is going to rain.
There is a pond in Cummeen in the Co Roscommon which often overflows itself and forms a little lake. Now if it goes down of a sudden after heavy rain it is a sign of bad weather.
If the old people saw suit fall out of the chimney they said it would surely rain.
If an old man or an woman had a pain or an ache in there bones they said it was a sign of bad weather.
If the swallows flew low it was a sign of rain, but if they flew high it was a sign that the weather would be good..
When there is going to be severe weather the wild geese are to be seen flying about this country.
When there is going to be a storm the dogs are to be seen eating grass.
