They are put into heaps and covered with rushes and clay for the winter. The young boys pick the potatoes. The most common kinds of potatoes are Aran Banners Kerr Pinks, Victories and Eppicures.

  2. We grow potatoes at home. The ground is first ploughed up into ridges four feet wide. The ridges are then ploughed and then finished with the shovel. This is called the County Roscommon digging. Another method is putting in the manure on the ridge and digging up the furrow on it before the potatoes are planted. The potatoes are cut about
