- There are days in the year on which the old people consider it lucky or unlucky to do certain things.
First of all they would not throw out ashes on Monday morning before twelve o'clock. They said it was unlucky if a woman came in and borrowed something on Monday morning and especially if she had red hair.
Friday was noted as a very lucky day for starting work such as ploughing. Friday was also supposed to be a very lucky day to start building a house and for going to live in a new house.
The day after the Odd Day was a lucky day for starting any work.
Good Friday was noted as a very lucky for sowing seed of any kind but mostly for potatoes and oats.
The Odd Day is three days from New Year's Day. Whatever day that is, it is the same day of the week for starting work.
