  1. When the ancient Church of Aughana became a ruin a man named Mr. Mc Kiernan took some stones from it and used them when building a dwelling house. It is said that such stones are unlucky and it turned out true as before the house was completed one of the masons fell from the top of it and was killed. Some time after Mr. Mc Kiernan died and his wife and children were evicted eight years after.
    The late Mrs M Deacon of Ballinafad was one of the holiest women in the locality. She went to Mass and Holy Communion. She paid frequent visits to the Chapel and performed the stations of the Cross daily. even in her old age when she was almost feeble she visited the
