  1. In the year 1917 there was a great snow storm it lasted for nine or ten days. At that time there was an election in Roscommon it was called Plunkets Election. The snow was four or five feet deep it was in drifts on the ground no motorcars could travel as the roads were blocked with drifts of snow. Those working for the candidates had to shovel the snow off the roads.
