  1. In the nineteenth century people used to come long distances to attend the weekly market in Drumshanbo. On Good Friday 1831 a party of 14 who were mostly women left Corry which is situated at the end of Lake Allen in a small Currach or sailing boat.
    They reached Drumshanbo and got their marketing complete, but alas when they were on their return voyage they were drowned
