    The Rush Light
    In olden times the people of my district depended solely on rush light in the country.
    When making those candles the boys generally cut long strong rushes which were found in a soft marshy place.
    These they peeled and tied in bundles and they then left them to season and harden.
    Next they soaked the peeled rushes in grease or fat.
    When night came, one of the candles were lighted and it showed light as brilliantly as the lamps of the
