    "Great harper and singer"
    Of all the bards Ireland ever produced the last and the greatest was O'Carolan the Blind. He was at once a poet, a musician, a composer, and sung his own verses to his harp. Born 1670 at a place called Newtown near Nobber Co. Meath. For almost half a century he lived a life, mainly indoors, peeling off impromptu compositions, which were the wonder and delight of all who heard him. Though two centuries have rolled by since his
