  1. Sliabh an Iarainn towers 1992 feet over the serene grandeur of Lake Allen, as a chieftain of old might overlook his territory. As may be easily conjectured the mountain derived its name from the iron ore which was mined there.
    As far back as the coming of the Tuatha De Danánns to Eire we hear mention of Sliabh an Iarainn for that tribe travelled in a magic cloud on the mountain top and had a battle there against the Firbolgs and
