    lay down by the side of the road to rest. He was not long there, when he heard a wailing like that of a woman in distress. He arose and went to the place from whence the wailing came. He saw a woman bending over a baby more naked than himself. He took off his own coat and gave it to the woman, he them proceeded homeward.
    When he arrived home he found his house laden with good things. His wife told him that a woman had left them.
    Then the poor man knew that the woman and child whom he had given his coat to, was the Blessed Virgin and her Son.

    Long ago every Christmas night a coach drawn by four black horses with no heads used to be seen coming out of the closed gates at Mr Dawson’s house. The coach came across the lawn and when it came out the gate it waited
