    Once upon a time a certain deaf farmer went to a fair in a distant town. On his way he went into a house to redden his pipe. It was early in the morning and only the woman of the house was up. She had pancakes and tea ready for her husband who was still in bed. “Isn’t it very cold” said the woman. “No thanks I won’t have tea” said the deaf farmer. “I did not ask you to have tea” said the woman. “As you pressed me so hard I will have it” said the farmer and taking up the pancakes he ate them every one and drank the tea.
    I got this story from my father.
