    A game called 'Beat the Bull' used to be played at wakes.

    A game called "Beat out the bull" used to be played at wakes. This is how it was played. Five or six fellows would get pieces of rope and plait them and at the end of each they would put a big knot. They would then get out some other person on the floor and they would give him a terrible beating.
