    People used to make a 'boxty cake'...

    When this would be baked it would be very soft + flaky and would be used for a dinner
    When tea was first used it was especially kept for the priests' breakfast when he would come for the station. Two or 3 women would be employed getting the priests' breakfast and the tea would be boiled and then one of them would take out the tea leaves + squeeze the juice out of them + chop up the leaves on a plate for the priest to eat. The juice would be thrown out. The people did not know how to make tea at that time.
    A tongs they used long ago was a stick bent in two and used to be called a "marde brisne"
