    from elder, and whistles were made from elder, reed and sallies. James Ward in Ballyteague is a great ivy-leaf player. Long ago at dances three or four persons would jig for the dancing in the firelight, and they also played on combs and paper. There used to be a cock-fight in Pluckerstown bog.
