  1. Potatoes
    We saw about half an acre of potatoes every year. The potatoes are sown in drills. First the ground is ploughed, then it is grubbed, then harrowed, then the drills are opened with a plough. Manure is put in rows along the drills then. The potatoes are cut by women, avoiding the eye in the potatoes, and then lime is put o nthem to heal the seed. The seed potatoes are then put in buckets or baskets and are dropped along in the drills about a foot from each other. Then the manure is put on the the
