    A cure for whopping cough.
    In Co Monaghan and Co.Kildare it is the custom when children have the whooping cough to take them to a married woman whose surname in marriage is the same as her maiden name. She is asked to give the children bread and butter which they must eat in her house as a cure.
    A cure for warts
    In Co.Monaghan & Co.Tyrone people with warts look for a snail and rub it on the wart. They then stick the snail on a thorn and as the snail dies the wart is supposed to die also.
    A cure for mumps or toothache
    in Co.Tyrone they say that mumps and toothache can be cured by walking three times
