  1. In the townland of Mónruadh, Co Kildare, there is an old road made of birch trees running through Mónruadh bog. The road, which is covered over by new bog formations, was discovered in 1930, when a new laneway was being made, to connect the bog with the roadway. This old road, which runs from one hill called "Rourke's" Hill to another called the "Green" Hill, is known as the Dane's Road. This road was known to exist long before 1930 but its position & direction had been forgotten.
