    Before Newbridge was founded it was called O'Connell Mór.

    Before Newbridge was founded it was called O'Connell Mór. St Conleth lived there, and he founded Abbeys and Churches, and he was a skilled worker in metal.
    St Ninnieadh Lámh Glan lived in the vicinity also. One day on a certain occasion he was sent on a message by Saint Bridget to Saint Conleth. He was attacked by wolves, and was nearly left dead. St Conleth performed a great miracle on him, and raised him to life again. St Bridget told St Ninniedth that he would be the Saint that would administer her the Last Sacraments. From that day on he wore a glove on his right hand. From that day on
