    When the remains of John Philpot Curran, the famous lawyer and (-) were brought to Ireland for burial, they were laid in state for three days in Lyons House, before their internment in Glasnevin Cemetery.
    Miss Emily Lawless, the Irish Poetess and Novelist was a sister of the last Lord Cloncurry. She died in 1913.

    Not far from Lyons is situated Oughter Ard, where the famous duel between Daniel O'Connell, and D'Esterre was fought in 1813.
