Celbridge Abbey, was built in the 13th Century, and so it is the oldest inhabited house in Co. Kildare.
It became the property of Mr. Van Homreigh, and so it was the home of dean Swifts Venessa.
Afterwards the home of Henry Grattan, who got "Free Trade" for Ireland in the year 1782, and later on the home of his son.
