  2. Long ago a ship was going to Killorglin with flour and meal. She passed through Dingle Bay in the day time and she reached Rossbeigh in the evening. Between Rossbeigh and Inch there is a small portion of water in which the ship could go through called the Bar and a pilot used to guide the ships across and if the ships did not go the right way they would stick in the sand. This ship however was not expected until the next day and the pilot was not there. There was a small fishing boat fishing nearby, so the fishermen decided that they would go and guide her in order to get payment
