  1. There is a Fort in Gortnascarry and one Summer a Farmer living in This townland found one of his cows milked dry every morning.
    To find what was causing this he took out his gun one night and sat down near the fort in the field where the cows were. After awhile he saw a hare emerge from the fort and the hare went to this cow and stood up on his hind legs and began sucking the cow.
    The man fired at the hare and shot him but when he tried to get up he could not move or walk and had to be taken home and was disabled during life
