Oh, had I the lamps of Aladdin or had I his genie also I would rather live poor in the mountains with my cailin deas crúaidte na mbo.

"Oh, had I the lamps of Aladdin or had I his genie also I would rather live poor in the mountains
With my cailin deas crúaidte na mbo."
Once a priest was going on a sick-call on horseback, and as he was crossing a river he heard the above song.
He was so charmed with the singing that he stayed for a long time listening. When the song was ended he saw a hound in the river.
When he reached the house the sick person was dead & the priest cursed the song for being the cause of keeping him and letting the person die without the Last Sacraments.
