This was usually done with some kind of "fionán" or with the straw of rye & was tied with the fionan ropes. - The older people made all their own goods. When they killed any animal they would make candles out of the tallow. It was melted and poured into a mould which used to be put steaming on a sod of turf & a nail across the top of it to keep the wick straight. When the tallow would set it used to come out after awhile.Baskets
