A man was driving home from Sneem alone with horse and cart. He was on his way to Kenmare. When he arrived at the Long Lake he looked behind him and saw a woman sitting in his cart. Neither spoke to the other. The carter however noticed his horse labouring as if the weight on him was excessive. Horse was sweating freely and cart appeared very heavy. The unwelcome burden remained until he came to Blackwater Bridge immediately after crossing which he had no one in the car!
