The Father of this child was said to have hacked off the fingers of a Statue of the Sacred Heart in his youth when some Church or other was being converted into a barrack for English soldiers.
I heard this lately but on saying thats a folk tale for me I got no names and even the teller would not allow me to give the name but any body who visits Youghal will I have no doubt be able to verify this story which is so modern(continues on next page)
