  1. Some years ago there lived in Derry Loughee a family by the name of Hartnett [?]. One evening they were milking the cows and it was in the summer. They heard a child crying coming from the East, and when the crying was coming nearer. They saw a woman dragging a child by the arm and he was saying. "I won't go" I don't want to go with I won't go. They thought the woman was the childs mother. But when she went back the road they seen then it was their own little boy. One of them ran to take child away from her, but when they got to the turn of the road they could not see the child or the woman. The child was at home and had not gone out, he was taken sick that night and died the next day.
    My mother told me this story.
