  1. Long ago and up to 40 or 50 years ago shoes were not commonly worn as they are to day and several never wore shoes. A local woman named Mary Anne who was not steady never wore shoes nor did another of the same tribe nicknamed fly. A fisherman living in Tahilla never in his life wore a shoe.
    A story is told of a father and mother in Baureeragh in Bonane Parish. Their only girl was twenty years of age and the mother said to the Father "we ought buy a pair of boots for our daughter to fit her to go imeasg an pobail.
