Con Kelly of Lohart was a policeman and stationed at New Castle West and the sprid of bearna was their sprid.
She like the " sprid" of the Maiden Rock here in Kenmare Bay. Both were wicked women who lived bad lives and even did away with children without baptism. The mother at Bearna was correcting and chastising her daughter for her wicked deeds. Afterwards she killed her own mother and became a terror to the people if the surrounding districts and they asked the Parish Priest to banish her for ever. He succeeded in doing this after a great deal of reading & praying he condemned her to the pool of Brofua and there she can be seen bailing the pool to this day.
